Genealogy is far more than a hobby. It is a discipline grounded in careful research, critical analysis, and the preservation of family history. For more than forty years, I have been dedicated to uncovering the stories of individuals and families, connecting generations through historical records, and preserving legacies for the future.

Hi, my name is Sandi Bohle, and my journey began with my own family’s history. As a child, I was captivated by the stories passed down through generations, often rich in detail but lacking documentation. Forty years ago, my grandmother, Anna Christine Rusten (née Bjorhus), entrusted me with our family’s genealogy research and historical records. She believed I would continue the work she had begun, and I have honored that trust ever since.

I started researching long before the internet revolutionized genealogy. In those early years, discoveries were made through handwritten letters, long-distance phone calls, courthouse visits, library research, and countless hours spent searching through records one page at a time. Those experiences taught me patience, persistence, and the importance of thorough documentation—skills that continue to guide my work today.

Over the decades, I have built extensive experience researching families in the United States, Norway, Germany, and across Europe. My work includes federal, state, land, probate, church, and immigration records, as well as European Jewish records. I have completed courses in genealogical methodology, participated in workshops and conferences throughout the United States and Europe, and maintain professional relationships with genealogists in the United States, Norway, and Germany, some of which span more than twenty years.

My commitment to genealogy extends beyond personal research. For more than twenty years, I have volunteered with USGenWeb as a county coordinator for three North Dakota counties, maintaining county websites, transcribing records, publishing historical information, and assisting researchers from around the world.

Before establishing Rooted in Time Genealogy, I spent more than thirty years in the entertainment industry as a stage manager, production manager, and lighting designer, followed by nine years as a trauma therapist. These diverse careers strengthened my organizational, investigative, analytical, and interpersonal skills—qualities that now enhance my genealogical research and client work.

Today, through Rooted in Time Genealogy, I combine decades of experience, professional training, and a passion for family history to help others discover their roots. Whether uncovering the story of an immigrant ancestor, breaking through a long-standing research challenge, or preserving a family’s legacy for future generations, I am honored to help clients connect with the people and stories that shaped their lives.
